Rione San Francesco

Il Rione San Francesco was born on 4 July 1982

From the will of a group of Contrada people, a reality came to life which, year after year, has grown to become a large family.
The district develops near the Monumental Church of San Francesco, from which it takes its name, and is represented by a rampant tawny lion on a blue background, a symbol and colors linked to tradition.
Today it has more than 150 participants including musicians, flag-wavers, clarions, nobles, archers and armed men, who parade through the city every first Sunday of September until they arrive in Piazza Grande, where they support their archers in the dispute of the Palio degli Arcieri of Pescia.
During the year the Rione San Francesco organizes events and initiatives to keep the group alive and involve more and more young people. It also takes part in parades and historical re-enactments both in the city and outside, also taking part in national and international events and national flag competitions.
Throughout its history it has won 8 Cenci, in the years: 1992 – 2001 – 2004 – 2005 – 2007 – 2013 – 2016 – 2022.
