Fibbialla di Valleriana is a small village situated 424 meters above sea level. Nestled among vineyards and chestnut groves, it is famous for its panoramic terraces. Near this castle, which was in a strategic position, the people of Lucca and Florence clashed numerous times to gain control; eventually, Fibbialla became part of the Lucchese dominion. This village has been most affected by the abandonment of its inhabitants and is, in fact, the least populated of all the villages in the valley.
To see in Fibbialla: the 15th-century parish church of San Michele Arcangelo, with its single nave, marks the entrance to the village and is the sole landmark of its urban layout. Inside the church, there are several 17th and 18th-century paintings of significant value and a 15th-century sculpture representing the Virgin of the Annunciation. Some remains of the ancient defensive walls are still visible today.
