Shrouded in the mystery of its origins, this imposing palace does not reveal the name of its architect, but lets history speak for itself: the engraving “Anno VI” on the facade fixes its completion in 1928, in a full rationalist climate.
Nestled between the flow of the Pescia stream and the wide Piazza XX Settembre, the building stands as a solid and isolated volume, capable of dominating the eastern side of the urban space. Its architecture is a fascinating dialogue between different eras: an audacious mix where historicist ornaments meet the first, vibrant modernist impulses. The rhythm of the elevations is punctuated by a particular broken-profile arching that embraces the windows in a "giant order", culminating in a rigorously symmetrical central avant-corps. Here, among polygonal balconies and overlapping geometries, the building exhibits all its scenographic personality.
