The building housing the museum is a former paper mill, restored while maintaining its original structure. Visitors can admire the vintage machinery, many of which are still in working order, and follow the entire process of handmade papermaking. From the maceration of the rags to the preparation of the pulp, to the shaping of the sheets and drying, the museum offers an immersive and authentic experience, allowing visitors to rediscover a now rare artisan craft.

Beyond the technical aspect, the Pescia Paper Museum also explores the artistic and cultural dimensions of paper. On display are ancient documents, historic watermarks, and precious artifacts that testify to Pescia's fundamental role in European paper production. Thematic rooms include sections dedicated to the history of writing, printing, and document preservation.

The museum regularly organizes educational workshops, guided tours, and activities for schools and families, offering the opportunity to personally create a sheet of handmade paper. This educational and engaging experience allows participants to understand the value of know-how and the profound connection between people, water, and the land.
The Museum's mission is to preserve six centuries of tradition, spreading the culture and knowledge of one of the oldest communication tools: paper.
In short, the Pescia Paper Museum represents a place of living memory, where past and present meet to pass on to new generations the passion for an ancient art that still embodies creativity, sustainability, and tradition today.
