The church of Santa Maria Madddalena<\/strong> It is located in Pescia, a few steps from the Cathedral.<\/h4>\n\n\n

It is documented from the 13th century, but its current appearance dates back to the first half of the 18th century. The fa\u00e7ade is characterized by a portal with a broken pediment and a large window bordered by a geometric motif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior of the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena in Pescia features a sumptuous decorative apparatus. The presbytery is separated from the main hall by a large arch richly decorated with drapes and stucco cherubs by Giovan Battista Ciceri, who also created the four angels (circa 1700) at the sides of the high altar, which houses a precious 15th-century wooden Crucifix attributed to Andrea Pisano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the sacristy, a large and highly venerated Crucifix in painted and gilded wood (15th century) is preserved, along with two wooden sculptures: an Announcing Angel and a Praying Magdalene (Maddalena orante) attributed to Andrea Cavalcanti, known as Il Buggiano, dating to approximately 1440.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1700, every twenty-five years, the crucifix has been carried through the streets of the city. On this occasion, known as the \"May Festivals\" (Feste di Maggio), the palaces and hills are illuminated with wax lamps.<\/p>\n\n\n
